API reference manual (download or purchase)

I'm looking to either download for free a nice API reference manual/guide so that I can save time instead of constantly having to jump over to the internet to look for valid API calls and how to use them (I program on a computer without internet access so it is a pain having to switch computers, print something, bring it back to the other computer, see if it works, repeat process... or (second choice) purchase a good API reference manual/guide for the same reason above.

if it is something I must purchase please let it be something that you have used yourself and you feel comfortable using on a regular basis.

Anyone have some good recommendations for either of these options? thanks for your help

I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

Hi guidway,

the api viewer from www.mentalis.org (allapi.net) as was is pretty good, better than the standard one anyway. The API-Guide as well has some good examples as well as definitions but not as many as the viewer.

Hey Tim,

I'll take a look at this and let you know. I think it will work. I was surprised it didn't come up when I was searching the internet earlier for such a guide. thanks again :o)
