HTML help

I'm trying to build an HTML editor which will save files as html or text and highlight certain HTML tags with different colours automaticly. Does anyone know any tutorials to help or knows how to do it please tell me.

Your best bet would be to load your html file into a richtextbox and then do a series of InStr() calls looking for your tags and change their color as you find them.

A vague answer? I know...  Give us a little more detailed information on how you want the app to work and we can help you out.

I would like to try and build an HTML editor which (i.e. better version of notepad) which colour codes text so as it is easier to find certain tags like the head, body, bold, underline tags etc. I was also going to try and make it be able to save the html in *.html and *.txt with one click of a buton. If possible I was also going to put a preview screen beside the html editor window so as you type it constantly refreshes the html preview window, showing you what it would look like in a web page. I could also have an open button as well as a save button to open html files and edit them and buttons to quickley insert different tags like body and head.

Hope this helps

Hi,

what you need is at the end to write a parser.

It should parse any single word or special tag in a text and hadle as required.

It is not too difficult for few and simple tags.

Probably you will find some samples looking on google for parser sample code.

Hope it helps.
