I have used the Flash menuBar component.
1) How do I change the color and font properties of the menubar
2) I placed a graphic next to the menu bar and I want this graphic to slide to the point on the menu bar that my cursor is over.  How do I do this?
3) I want to add sound as the cursor hits spots on the menu bar. How do I do this?
4) How do I link the items on my menu bar to the correct pages?

From these questions, I guess you can tell I am knew to this but I need to develope something in a hurry and the documentation is a little confusing at this point.
Thank you for any assistance.

what's your graphic item like, and in what direction do you want it to move (vertical/horizontal)?

It is a photo that I want to move across the menu bar horizontally.  The graphic will be to the left of the horizontal menu bar.  When

         ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
 Pict        Biography      Photos       Music   etc. is on the bar
         -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

as one of the selections is made, the picture will travel to that point.

        ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
        Biography      Photos    Pict    Music   etc. is on the bar
         -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
See how the picture icon moves to Music?  Is there a way I can get Biography and Photos to move over so Pict will fit between Photos and Music?  If not, it is okay to just have the picture cover over Photos and point to Music

The menubar in your sample is just what I am using.  How did you change the color of the border, etc and the font?  Now just imagine a graphic going across it as you point to something on the bar.

Thanks Negatyve

this is just what I wanted.  Now, to answer the other question:  how do I link the things on my navigation bar to the page they should go to (i.e., click on music and it goes to music page?

1) How do I change the color and font properties of the menubar

2) I want to add sound as the cursor hits spots on the menu bar. How do I do this?
3) How do I link the items on my menu bar to the correct pages?
thanks mbs

>1) How do I change the color and font properties of the menubar

I have changed it (look my code, this is from the sample file):

// MENU STYLE MODIFICATION
this.path.menu_mc.setStyle("color", 0xFF6600);
this.path.menu_mc.setStyle("themeColor", "haloOrange")
this.path.menu_mc.setStyle("fontSize", 10);
this.path.menu_mc.setStyle("fontFamily" , "Verdana");

>2) I want to add sound as the cursor hits spots on the menu bar. How do I do this?

Turn on your speaker, the sound is already there! :) (this code is inside the sample movie):

// CHANGE HANDLER SUBMENU SETTING
this.path.listener = {path:this.path};
this.path.listener.change = function(evt)
{
      this.path.click_sound.start(0,1);

>3) How do I link the items on my menu bar to the correct pages?

please, msparrow, look at my code, the link is already there, just commented:

this.path.listener.change = function(evt)
{
      this.path.click_sound.start(0,1);
      var item = evt.menuItem.attributes.label;
      this.path.text_area.text = "You have just clicked over '" + item + "' item!";
      // DECOMMENT THIS LINE
      //getURL(item + ".html", "_blank");
};

thanks negatyve.

I did not look at the code because I am away from my computer with Flash on it.  I'll look at the code when I get home.  The sample works perfectly.  Thanks again.

Negatyve:
I have one other question.  Is there a way to return the picture cursor back to the starting point (in this case to the left of the menu) after a selection has been clicked on?  I noticed that the picture cursor remains in the position it last moved to.  I would like to return it to the margin if possible.  Any suggestion? Also, I just purchased Flash Mx 2004 Professional.  Any suggestions on a good detailed book that can help me through this.

thanks, mbs
