He's giving me extra points related to a question, because I helped out a lot more than usual.

Well,

Not to butt in. but i did glance at your answer history.  Based on that, i didn't see anything at all worth adding pts to.  All was rather mundane ( i didn't read through any q's sked by anyone other than hello1111, maybe they weren't mundane).

It sertainly was not "mundane", he needed some old software that I had spare so I sent it him at my own cost, is this "ok" with you guy's. I can't find the question it relates to in my history but ill keep looking and post the link if I can and try and get in contact with him to ask him if he can supply that link.

Are You Ready for GDPR?

With the GDPR deadline set for May 25, 2018, many organizations are ill-prepared due to uncertainty about the criteria for compliance. According to a recent WatchGuard survey, a staggering 37% of respondents don't even know if their organization needs to comply with GDPR. Do you?

Hello Dave1234,

Just so you're aware, this is a community of sorts.  Everything that goes on here effects the members.  If i see something that might possibly jeopardize or degrade the integrity of the system (in this case, particularly the points system) then I'll add my two-cents (usually I'll try to sneak a twenty-five cent word in there too, at no extra cost).

aloha,

I know its a community and all the rest, and yes it is a very good service, (I'm definitley not knocking experts-exchange), but seeing as they are my points so to speak, can I not give them to him if I choose.   It is not affecting other users as far as I can see, and he was particularly helpful.   It is keeping with the community spirit that everyone helps each other and that is exactly what dave10234 did.

Good shout, there his points so he should be able to give them out as he see's fit's.

zenlion if your so worryed about what you mentioned in your last comment why don't go and help someone instead of sticking your nose in where it's not welcome. That way you'll keep the community happy and reduce petty bickering you have caused already.

Community's are all about helping each other, I have gone the extra mile with hello1111, and so should be appriciated by all. I know sending him software does not help others but he is part of the community and so am I. So there for I am not degrading the integraty of the system, but actually I am giving Experts-Exchange a better image. Where all here to help each other so I don't see what the problem is.

dave1234,

I don't see anyone bickering here (unless that's what you're doing, and i didn't pick up on it), no one is taking any shots at you or hello1111, just trying to explain how the pts system works.  "pts for:" questions should display a corresponding link to the extra help they're designed to reward.  That's just how it works.

I dident know about the other posting one for 500 points. I only know about this posting.

Look everyone is missing the point here, I was helping him a lot and he wanted to show his gratitute. If he cannot show that by giving me extra points, can you sergest a way that he can please?

I'm sorry this has got this fare, we have learnt the hard way a bit on this one, but I was just trying to help.

What does aloha mean?

Lads, lads, lads,

This is all gone mad.

Right, I was using EE, and got a lot of help from it.   Mr Dave10234 helped me out more than I could of expected so I decided to be extra nice to him and give him my points.   I didn't see the harm in any of it, as I didn't feel I was harming any other user, by allotting MY points to someone who helped me out in a big way.

If this is a problem, (ie we are not allowed to show out gratitude by giving points) then fine.   I did wrong.

There's no point in getting into a hissy fit about it and shutting down accounts and the likes, just let it go and I won't do it again.
