Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client Problem

I am using a PIX 501 with VPN.

For most clients VPN works. However, for two of the clients, I receive the following error:

"Secure VPN Connection terminated locally by the Client. reason: Unable to contact the security gateway"

I'm not sure what this is.

One client is windows 98 and the other is XP and both on Laptops.

Thanks,
Cepolly

Typically if one client will work, it is not a configuration on your end.
Are you running out of licenses on the 501?

Narrow down what is different about these two clients from those others that do work..
Both on wireless clients?
Both on DSL vs dialup or cable?

Are you using a host name or IP on the clients that aren't working?  If it's a host name, make sure the clients can resolve it.

Sorry Guys.

I am in the middle of re-roofing my house and forgot about this. :-)

We fixed the problem. It was the username. The VPN Username is case-sensitive and needed to be lowercase on the client. That was it.

Thanks for the help.
