Text not aligning when in cell with image

I have an image and text in the same cell of a table. Both the image and the text change when either are hovered over and they have the same action when clicked on, so separating them into different cells is not really an option as they must be in the same <a> tag.

Now to the point, the image fits fine in the cell, but the text will not vertically align to the middle! I have tried aligning the <td> tag, the style in the css everthing I can think of, but the text is still at the bottom of the cell. What can I do?
