IIS 5 starting but never succeeds - cannot access Internet Service Manager

After loading Business Objects Web Intelligence the IIS service has stopped running.  IIS Admin service is on permanent Starting but never goes anywhere.  Have unloaded and re-loaded BOWI but no help.

Question:  I want to uninstall and re-install IIS 5 but do not know what the consequences might be if any.  Is there a file that contains all the configuration data which I can save in order to get IIS back up and running quickly?  Unsure what the original settings were.

If you right click the IIS in the mmc, you can backup and restore the config there.

Do you get any errors in the event viewer ?

Also put on SP4.

Cannot right click on MMC because nothing happens when you try to open it.  Lots of errors in Event Viewer but they are all DNS errors which are probably linked to IIS not working, eg Event ID 5574 Reg of DNS record '_kerberos._udp.sd etc.... failed with the following error: DNS server unable to interpret format

Will try SP4 now.
