HI, I have a Drop down list querying from a table in my database.  The drop down list will have Software titles.  People will be able to add software titles but I would like them to be in alphabectical order.

I can do this easily.

But when the page loads, I would like there to be a blank  in the drop down list FIRST with a Null vaule.  That what software is not choosen by mistake.

Can anyone help?

<cfselect name="yourselect" message="Please select a software" query="yourquery" value="yourcolumnforvalues"
display="yourcolumnfordisplay" required="yes">
  <option value = "" selected></option>
</cfselect>

I am using something similar, however I would like to use the cfselect required="yes" parameter to force the user to make a selection before submitting.

In the example above, the cfselect / cfform accepts the empty string as a valid value rather than forcing the user to make a selection from the list below "".

Can this be fixed somehow.

Thanks in advance.
