***** ATTENTION LINUX NETWORKING EXPERTS *****

As many of you know there has been an influx of new users on the site since the PAQ questions were released on google. For this reason many topic areas have been flooded with questions that are too many for us moderators and staff to handle alone.

With the help of few experts we are able to keep some of the topic areas running pretty smoothly but some such as this one are being overrun with questions that have never been closed. We are requesting that any experts who have a few moments a day will help us with a cleanup effort to clean out the abandoned questions in this topic area.

With approximately 10 experts cleaning 20 questions a day we can have this area cleaned in just a few weeks. Is there anyone willing to roll up their sleeves and give us a helping hand to cleanup this topic area?

Many of us know the benefits that Experts-Exchange has brought to us in the past. Now let's see if we can do something to help this wonderful site so it will have a future. All we need is a handful of experts to participate. We need experts who want to help and are not afraid to make decisions on their own.

If you have a few minutes a day and are willing to help out get this topic area back in order, please respond to this question and let us know. We truly will appreciate any help. For more information regarding the cleanup process please see this link:
http://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hs7

Before you begin I will need to assign you to date range to work in so that we don't duplicate effort. So post here first and I'll get you started.

Thank you for your time!

Who is Participating?
I wear a lot of hats...

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

I'm just finish 3 TA cleanup in one day LOL ;P

should I take NOV, 2002??
0
majorwooCommented:
I saw, i kept getting messages you were cleaning up questions I had been in ;-)

I started April with the tool, but something happened and it ate my log file, so I wasn't sure where to go next.  I would like to finish cleaning those up (tomorrow hopefully)

Check with the mod responsible for your TA, but my mod is ok with me using my PE powers to just clean the questions as I go as opposed to posting requests for deletes - especially for the 2000 and 2001 questions.. I think the 03's I will post for, but at least now I can post lists for myself and take some of the load off the mods.
0
paullamhkgCommented:
what's PE? majorwoo

are you using FastCat also?

Anyway, let's start to clear all up :P

and BTW happy new year even it's a bit late
0
majorwooCommented:
Paul,

Sorry,  a PE is a Page Editor.  We are sort of mini mods presiding over our own seperate TA's.  Mini-mods isn't really accurate(as we don't have all their powers), but the concept is good for its visuilization.

Happy new year to you too, better late then never ;-)
0
paullamhkgCommented:
Oh I should take Jan 2003, since troopern already take care of Nov and Dev 2002 :)
0
troopernCommented:
paullamhkg do so, I'm going to waste dec02 today I guess. or this weekend atleast.. =)
0
brabardCommented:
Thanks , but I am going ahead and hope I will finish jan01-mar01 for the next few days .

Btw , could somebody take a look at that question :
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Networking/Linux_Networking/Q_20071710.html
I am a little bit confused how to proceed ...
0
majorwooCommented:
It looks like Modulo refunded it, but I would have wanted to see what their solution was too that caused them to say it wasn't the right answer...

I'm not scared of him, I'll go ask ;-)
0
brabardCommented:
Yes , I posted here after the first request from the owner of the question , before refunding .
I hope the jlevie's answer will help somebody after PAQing ...
0
ChmodAuthor Commented:
I wouldn't have refunded the points as the Asker did not give any useful feedback to jlevies suggestion, but modulo is a nice guy ;-)
But I think the Q should stay in the PAQ if jlevies suggestion would normally fix the problem?
0
paullamhkgCommented:
I agree to PAQ'd, at lease some other can have idea and try out if similar problem occur ;-)
0
troopernCommented:
My plans for finishing up Dec02 in one weekend did not work. Got buzy that weekend.
I will take it in time though, I've had quite much to do with studies and so. But I'll get it done as soon as I can.

don't go slacking off or we will take away all the special extras you get for being a cleanup volunteer..  err.. hmmm, ok, well maybe you don't have any so we can't ;-)

I saw someone who said they would help cleanup if he/she got points, and one of the mods (Yensi I think) said sorry, no points its just to help out so the user was like, Hm.. well I'll think about it and maybe let you know.
0
troopernCommented:
Well I haven't slacked of.. yet..
won't do either.. but right now I don't have the time.... but will do some next week. will spend some hours cleaning it up.
I hope I will finish it of next week. I probably will.. not thyat man Q's after all.

Just glad to help put, if I get some extra benefits for it, sure thing, but first of all I'd like to help the forum that got me addicted ;)
0
majorwooCommented:
Yeah I've noticed that I go in spurts - sometimes I will take a day or two off, and then I find myself spending hours on Saturday doing cleanup.  Something must have short circuited up there.. Saturday's are for relaxing...
0
troopernCommented:
he he.. Sundays are for recovering.. Friday and saturday are for partying (if you can afford it) monday and tuesday are for relazing.. wednesday is another party day. (and where I come from it's called "Small Saturday") .. =)
