Hide toolbar in current window only

The last comment I saw on this was back in 2000..  Where it was said that self.toolbar.visible=false; only works in nutscrape.
 Does explorer still not support hiding the toolbar in the current window?

I don't want to open a new window.  That's not an option.

Thanks

There are a few things you can do if it is not your window

You cannot remove toolbars from IE. You can remove the scrollbars by having scroll="no" in the  body tag.

In Netscape, you can do this:

netscape.security.PrivilegeManager.enablePrivilege("UniversalBrowserWrite");
window.menubar.visible=!window.menubar.visible;

but the user is prompted for permission
