I'm looking for an application that captures the last hour from a webcam! It should automatically overwrite the previous hour.

Might not be the perfect topic area, but hopefully you've got some expertise.

Hi risoy,

what happens if you record for 1hr and one second ... you lose 1 hour and get a recording for just 1 second ?
or am I missing a point!!

Well, what you need is WebCam Recorder.
WebCam Recorder is a smart tool that lets you record virtually any web cam on the Internet - streaming video cams, applet cams and even cams that are as plain as automatically refreshed web pages. It works as follows: you set up a new profile, pick a browser window (or any other window, for that matter), draw the web cam area with your mouse, choose whether to capture single shots every now and then or record streaming video and voila! the tool starts the record.
There's also a file editor and player included with this tool. You can play back your captured video files or perform simple operations, like cutting out selected frames out of a video sequence. Try this tool today and record any web cam!

Thanks, but I probably expressed myself a little unclear.

I have got a webcam attached to my computer and want it to monitor certain area where something falls off a conveyer belt. We know when our piece has fallen off, but we don't know why (and don't understand why.) So we need a camera to monitor this area for us to come up with a solution. There is movement all the time, so we can't trigger it on movement.

I want a program that keeps one hour of video. Alternatively records for one hour, saves the video in file #1. Then records for another hour, saves the video in file #2. Then overwrite file #1 etc. We don't want to fill the harddrive and it is impossible to anticipate when we want it record.

One alternative is to put a man there watching, but it could be days and this belt runs 24h.

Hope you've got a clearer idea of what I want now.

Masked motion detection allows precise control over frame recording and alarms, so you can block out the moving trees or people walking past the window.

Disk Space Management optionally overwrites old archived images to allow for continuous operation, so you can keep the last few days or weeks action
