How To Setup DNS (newbie question)
Posted on 2003-11-26
This is my first time I manage W2K networking. I have a background in programming and now I want to setup & manage a small networking for my development team and I have no experience in this subject.
Ok, now to the point, I have successfully setup my Windows Server (W2K3) , I have installed Active Directory and setup my Server as the DNS server as well (all performed in the Active Directory Setup Wizard).
I have created user and computer account for all the clients and they can successfully log on and join to the domain.
However, I still feel something is missing, the DNS still not configured.
I found an Error Event in the Event Viewer saying like this:
"The DNS server was unable to complete directory service enumeration of zone MyDomain.net. This DNS server is configured to use information obtained from Active Directory for this zone and is unable to load the zone without it. Check that the Active Directory is functioning properly and repeat enumeration of the zone. .."
What's wrong with this?
My Domain Controller is connected to the Internet, but I want to configure my DNS just for my LAN. How should I configure my DNS?
Please guide me to the right direction.
Thanks for any help
