Cannot use diskcopy on XP Pro pc, getting error "cannot lock current drive".  I know there is a simple solution, but can't seem to find.  Should be easy points.

this kind error comes when cd/floppy driver tries to lock the drive and can not.
because once the diskcopy start and coping things, cd drive should not be opened.

I assume you are trying to copy a diskette. If so, try these solutions:

Make sure the command is specified as:  diskcopy a: a:  Do not leave off either drive parameter or XP will think you are trying to copy the c: drive:

Make sure that A: is NOT selected in an open Explorer windows.

Make sure the current drive in the CMD prompt is NOT A:.

Try changing the output diskette.

If you have an anti-virus program, that scans the drive when you insert a diskette, disable the ant-virus
