MsSQL -> MySQL Sync

Hi

I have to synchronize two tables between a MsSQL and a MySQL database. The MsSQL is the master database and updates/inserts/deletes will only be made here.

I read that DTS might be a good choice for the synchronization.

My problem is that when I try to make a datapump from MsSQL to MySQL the “Enterprise Manager” crashes?? When defining the datapump it’s possible to define the source, but when I try to define the destination (MySQL) I get an error message “HRresult….”. sometimes if I’m lucky I get a chance to choose the destination table, but the Enterprise Manager can only find tablenames – NOT the fields of the table?? The strange thins is that the table names starts with “INFORMATION_SCHEMA”??

I’m using the MyOLEDB3 driver to connect to the MySQL database….. can that be the problem?

I coudl o that but I needed the synchrinization to be executed every 30 minutes, and thought that DTS might be the answer.

Now I make the synchronization in a homemade synchronization program, using MySQL drivers for .Net. It works fine but I would still like to now what went wrong with my OLEDB driver.

At design time. I tried to make a datapump to transfer data from a temporary table in the MsSQL to the MySQL database.

Try creating an ODBC DSN using the OLEDB driver.  Name it MYSQL or something.  That way have the DTS point to the DSN.  Use the DTS Other(ODBC) datasource and choose the DSN of MYSQL.  Be sure to do this on the client PC designing the package as well as on the Server.
