Displaying progress status bar in the web page

I have developed my application using J2EE running in WebLogic Server 7 and iPlanet 6. In my jsp, sometimes the processing are very slow and there is no indicator. Can someone enlightened me what is the easiest way to program and show a progress status bar. Hopefully, not much code change needed.
