Hi crazyone and chickagoan

i humbly request u to post comments on this issue.
thak u all 4 ur comments...

i don't want to use any third party s/w for connection....

i hav WIN-XP on both sides now and i want to connect the systems without any internet connection....instead, only with dialing the destination number thru modem...

both are standalone systems....i hav gone thru the RAS SERVER process, but i didn't get an idea how to do...so can u pls tell me the steps in detail what i hav to do on both side 4 getting a connection...

i need a connection just like as a client in network, is it possible ?. if yes pls help me by giving the full steps what i hav to do..

i humbly request u to help me on this, bcos i hav no one else to ask and i expect u will help me on this.

RAS is Microsoft's remote access server. It will answer the telephone line and establish a ppp connection with the caller, just as if you were calling an ISP.
Hi chicagoan

i am sorry, i cudn't always use internet to post comments on ur comments..so sorry

thank u so much 4 ur help.. sure i can give u points, but i hav few doubts

i gone thru the RAS link u given, it is telling about the RAS API's that can use in programming...
without any programing there is no way to establish a remote connection with RAS on XP ?. if yes pls tell me where and how ?.

i didn't hav experience on working with XP yet. just 4 this issue i changed from win98 to xp.

so pls

1st of all, we're all assuming you've got windows 2000 server or server 2003 on one side, is that correct?

thanx

no. it is not correct. i don't hav win 2000 or win 2003 server .

now i hav windows-xp on both side.

only with windows xp it is not possible ?.

can i use remote desktop connection 4 the same in win-XP?.

if u hav idea on it pls get me .

Have you tried this
Control Panel > Network Connections > New Connection Wzard
Select Connect to the network at my place
Click Next
Select Dialup Connection
Click Next
Select Then modem
Click Next
And then follow through with the wizard
WIth XP answering the call though, no RAS builtin, no?

Maybe in this case you should be looking at a third party comm application.
zmodem script or somthing like http://www.ab-archive.com/English/programmalle/english7950.htm

Hi CrazyOne

i think what u said last is the best method for me and i tried it... but i am getting an error message

'the remote computer is not responding'

it is dailing there but for monitoring the connection request in a port what i hav to do at the remote system ?.

pls tell me about it
