New PDC Profile problem

I recently redid my PDC because the first one crashed so i had to start over again.  I redid all the settings the same and called it the same.  When I logon to my computer my profile has changed..

In the document and settings folder my profile is JohnDoe but now that I have logged in with the new domain it has made a new folder called JohnDoe.domainname  Is there something that has to be set on the AD so it doesnt do this?  I dont want to have to go to all the users computers to fix this.

Did you have only one DC?

If so, you have a new SID (security Identifier) for all your user objects.  In otherwords, all your users will get new profiles.  If you have a BDC, you should have promoted it.  I do not believe you can fix this through active directory.

Hi,

Think sr75 is right. There's a command line tool for AD that allows you to move users from one domain to another, but this tool only works when both domains are active. It's probably the best to install a second DC when you don't want this to happen again.

Kind regards,
