I recently asked a question about saving email.  what I wanted to do is save in and outgoing mail for certain users.  I added another user to the aliases    john:john, jim   this is good for mail that is recieved but not sent.  Am I missing something?  I would like to have a record of recieved and sent mail.

U are not missing anything but the above will only log incoming messages.

for outgoing messages to be logged. check this FAQ from sendmail.
u can try logall.c program.

It would require custom programming. You could either write a mail filter using the new Milter API in sendmail 8.10 and later (see libmilter/README) or you could look at some of these other unsupported hints:

Axel Reinhold's logall.c module (http://www.freakout.de/logall.c)

the procmailrc man page

NOTE:
libmilter/README mentioned in above, it is part of the sendmail distribution that you can download from ftp.sendmail.org. Get the current version (8.12.1).
