Configuring Linux Red Hat 8 for LAN Browsing..

Dear All,
i am beginner to use using a linux red hat 8.0 with dual OS with Win2k Professional on my machine, my machine is connected through LAN.
i tried to connect to the Internet through the LAN and it worked successfully but the amazing thing that i still can not browse the other machines on the Network (LAN),
my machine is the only Linux Machine on the LAN.
Internet now is configured well (i configured the proxy server).
the Eth0 is already defined and activated successfully.
now i need to browse through the LAN to see the other Machines (All with OS Win2k Professional - except the Server [Win2k Server]) .. how to do that?

"The solutions and answers provided on Experts Exchange have been extremely helpful to me over the last few years. I wear a lot of hats - Developer, Database Administrator, Help Desk, etc., so I know a lot of things but not a lot about one thing. Experts Exchange gives me answers from people who do know a lot about one thing, in a easy to use platform." -Todd S.

You need to install and configure SAMBA.  You will also need to turn on SAMBA services in (x)inetd.

There are some nice front end programs for using it to browse the local lan - I use LinNeighborhood.

SAMBA is included by default on all distros I'm aware of. LinNeighborhood, I'm not so sure, but it's easily found for most distros on the internet.  There is also a web based SAMBA admintool called SWAT, which also needs to be a service if you want to use it.

Hope this gets you started.
