To all Visual Basic Experts:

As many of you know there has been an influx of new users on the site since the PAQ questions were released on google. For this reason many topic areas have been flooded with questions that are too many for us moderators and staff to handle alone.

With the help of few experts we are able to keep some of the topic areas running pretty smoothly but some such as this one are being overrun with questions that have never been closed. We are requesting that any experts who have a few moments a day will help us with a cleanup effort to clean out the abandoned questions in this topic area.

If you have a few minutes a day and are willing to help out get this topic area back in order, please respond to this question and let us know. We truly will appreciate any help. For more information regarding the cleanup process please see this link:

http://www.experts-exchange.com/help.jsp#hs7

Before you begin I will need to assign you to an area to work in. So post here first.

YensidMod,

I am relatively new to EE and haven been participating for about a month and a half now.  Almost all of my posts are within the VB topic area.  In it, I was last months to top scorer and am already in the overall top 100.

Being an out-of-work programmer/stay@home dad who spends a lot (too much?) time on EE, I would love to help in the Cleanup process if you believe I would be a good candidate.

Regards,

Idle_Mind

Idle_Mind,
Sorry to hear about your work. Hope you get a job real soon.  Thank you for volunteering to cleanup the VB questions.  Please read the Cleanup Guidelines

http://www.experts-exchange.com/help/cleanup.jsp

and review a couple lists in the Cleanup topic, to get an idea of format.

As soon as you finish reading and understand the process, post here and I will give you a range of questions to clean.

Interesting, for me that question showed up as 10/05 12:12AM EDT.  I guess its something to keep in mind, we all have different regional time settings so our dispaly on the date ranges may varry.

Yensidmod,

The link you supplied above shows me only 2 question for 10/05.  The issue is definently regional settings for each one of us.  Just something we should be aware of.

Yensidmod,

On CST I have 1 question, on GMT I have 12, you are on PST where I have 5. I have no problem either way I will stay on PST just because that is how you are setting up the cleanup but that was interesting to say the least. leonstryker was correct in the reginal settings.

I'll also take 10/06  on PST and backtrak to the other 4. I was actually looking for about 20-25 questions.

I'd like to Help.  I spend a lot of time on EE during the day and would like to do something productive.
I've been using EE for quite a few months but not activly until recently.

I'm interested in cleaning up VB or any of the MS-Office areas.

I can (depending on the size) do a day every day  :)

If the asker question is not answer, it is Delete /Refund or Delete /No Refund.  PAQ/No Refund is fine for the last question.  I or another Moderator will look over it more carefully in 7 days.

dragontooth,
Here is what I got from two experts.

One said split the points between the experts.  The other is said,

"The question is ambiguous.
Most Experts read it as "how do I return and array from a function that is a class member"  But it could quite easily be "how do I return an array of class objects"

As with all ambiguous questions, the Experts are partly to blame because nobody forced the Asker to clarify before diving in with what could be the wrong answer.

Lacking any new input, I'd Delete/No refund....  Delete becasue an ambiguous question does not improve the PAQ database and there is no 'breakthrough insight' here.

But if one or more Experts claimed they were right, I'd probably just split the points amongst those who claimed it."

I will let you choose. :)

IT, Stop Being Called Into Every Meeting

Highfive is so simple that setting up every meeting room takes just minutes and every employee will be able to start or join a call from any room with ease. Never be called into a meeting just to get it started again. This is how video conferencing should work!

CONGRATULATIONS Visual Basic CVs!!!!!!!

VB now shows less than 2000 open questions!   The oldest are no more than 5 months old, and most are no more than 90 days.   We are clearly ahead of the "curve," and with one more push, we'll be in true maintenance mode.

This is an incredible accomplishment!  For years, VB was the "dirtiest" TA on the site with over 6000 abandoned questions.  Now we're ahead of most of the other busy TAs, WAY ahead of many of them -- check it out:

Dan,

Thanks for the update and sorry for the late response. I had some personal issues.

I hope you had taken only these from October that were in your last assignment ( 25 October - 30 November 2003)Because in the ones in 1-25th I have CVs and if you had done them, you had definitely decided  to  do something against what I had always asked - never clean any question that is not assigned to you.

Can I ask you when you make cleanup to use the official script? I know you do not like it but for now it is the script. Thanks

I'm afraid that I did post recommendations to the remaining questions before NOV-03.  There were only about 50.  The cleanup list for those Qs is here http:/CleanUp/Q_20923149.html

I'm sorry if I caused any problems.  For two years I have been cleaning oldest to new in VB, and when I saw that I had accidently skipped a few days of OCT-03 and saw no CV posts in that range, I just wanted to tidy up before I switched my focus to WinProg.

I stopped when I hit the end of NOV-03 as instructed.  I saw that planocz seems to be working the remaing 25 questions in 2003.

Again, I apologize if I have casued any problems.

AnnieMod,
I see that the last 30 from 2003 have not yet been cleaned.   We are in striking distance of getting VB down to under 1000!

If you would like, I can continue working oldest-to-newest in VB.  I'll do it concurrently with WinProg, which I have brought up to FEB-03 and intend to bring up to JAN-04 within the next week or so.
