How should I communicate with the serial (com2) port?

I need a sampler program to send and retreive ASCII text to the serial (Com2) port.  Anyone got any suggestions?

With sun commapi comes nice demo 'SerialDemo', it contains SerialConnection class I use as scheme for my applications with serial comunication.
