i want to get the details of CPU Number( we can receive it from the bios ), installed softwares etc remotely.

i think this can be done with the help of WMI tool in win2k

i do not want to use third party softwares.

In VB,

    Set BSet = GetObject("winmgmts:{impersonationLevel=impersonate}").InstancesOf("Win32_BIOS")

This queries WMI for BIOS settings and stores the result in an object array called BSet.

Then, you need to do something with BSet. For example:

    For Each BIOS In BSet
        BIOSRelease = BIOS.ReleaseDate
        BIOSVendor = BIOS.Manufacturer & "   " & BIOS.Caption
        ' Then do something with that information
    Next

Finally, empty the object array.

    Set BSet = Nothing

If you want to use more than just the vendor tag and release date, then you'll have to look up  Win32_BIOS on the Microsoft site for more properties, and then use them accordingly.
