SUS server doesnt update the clients

HI,
I have one Windows 2000 server SP4 and i have installed SUS with SP1 and have a client windows xp with latest SUS client.
I have deployed the SUS server as per the deployment guide but nothing seems to work.
After downloading the updates from the windows website on to the SUS server and after doing the synchronisation and approval ..the server is not updating the clients.
I did the registry changes also specified by microsoft but
1.When i do the click the windows update option in the client ,it is going to the Microsoft Website for updates.
2.I scheduled the client let say to update at 9.00 am but nothing happens.Even though in the GPEDIT.MSC i have set the relocation of windows update to my update server which is http://updatesrv
updatesrv is my server name.
and we dont have any proxy server.

I hope you can help me in this.

Thanking you in anticipation

In the group policy Have u enabled every thing ?
an update icon will appear on the right hand task bar when u log in as administrator . If u click on windows pdate it will still go to the windows update site . That is normal , but u need to click on the update icon on the right hand taskbar to install the update from SUS server .
Please list the options u selected in the gpedit if it is still not working

Hi anupnellip,

Well My GPEDIT settings are as follows:

1.Configure Automatic Updates - Enabled - Autodownload and schedule the install.
2.Specify Intranet Update service path for location - Enable - http://myupdatesrv.

My PC is with windows XP SP1.Now what i have noticed that in some PC there are 4 options for windows update in GPEDIT with windows XP SP1.
for example in other PC it had options like --
1.Reschedule Automatic Schedule installations.
2.No Auto-Restart for scheduled automatic updates installations.

Why is that in some PC's it has 2 options in GPEDIT and the other it has 4 options.

Secondly i think you were right that if we click on the right side of windows notification for updates it works from intranet update server because i checked the file c:\windows\windowsupdate.log and it had entries with Intranet update server.
Now one of the the entries is as follows:
--------------------------------------------------------

what do u think about the log file.It seems fine to me except that error which is for the driver i guess and i dont need any drivers update.

Now is there a way i can check from my Intranet update server that which clients has updated windows (any log file or something)
or i can force/push the updation from the server to a particular client without waiting for the scheduled time.

Thanks a lot for your kind help

Now I get your porblem , well you are using the group policy on local m/c . You have to do it for the domain not for the local cmputer. To do this Run > cmd > mmc . In this use Console > add/remove snapin select group policy , now when you click on it it will ask you which computer , Browse and select your Domain .
Make all your changes here then only all the m/c will update from the server.
If You want to do it on each m/c as you have been doing it is better to do it by editing the registery .

No Anup,
You took it wrong
I dont want that i will apply the Domain Policy on my network as i have other servers also which can get affected specially the ERP server.I want the local Policy but it seems its working .
I found something on the internet regarding the options issue which was showing the 2 options only ...because of the WUAU.ADM file.It should be the latest.I downloaded latest file and its showing 4 options now.Gr8.

But what do u think about my log file i copied above. Its ok or what??
and is there a way i can check from my Intranet update server that which clients has updated windows from my server (any log file or something)
or i can force/push the updation from the server to a particular client without waiting for the scheduled time.

Your SUS is working fine . ( from your log ) , You can check which all clients are using SUS server by checking the IIS log ( If you have enabled it ) . in winnt\system32\logfiles
