To read a Smart Card only with browser

Hi Experts!
I have the needing of reading a smart card only using browser (IE), now I do this by
using an ActiveX component, but I wish to eliminate it. Any idea?

Are you trying to read a PC/SC compliant card or are you attempting to read it at the hardware level?  there are plenty of PC/SC solutions that are easy to implement, further you can use reader dependant calls to access the card.
