Hello!  Shivsa and everyone,

Responding to my old thread of STOP-A and network option at home, Shivsa wrote,

i have sun system and i am connect with cable modem, it is working so good for me.
DSL is also good but not good if your telephone exchange if quite far from your home. it depens on phone lines which are not that good if u stay far from exchange. also cable give u more speed than DSL.

T1 lines the best and run way faster than any of these.

Now, I am interested in the specification of the system.   Hello Shivsa, may I have details about your system?   Hardware name and spec, Solaris version and network installation comment, Cable company's name.   At here for me in Los Angeles, I tried Comcast Cable but I stucked when SPRAC asked me to type in IP address.   I haven't gotten yet.   I prefer Cable too, if it works.   Thank you.   I am, of course, welcome other experts comment too.

This is Ultra Sparc 5. 64 MB RAM. built in ethernet which comes with the system. 4 GB of harddisk.
running solaris 9,  OEM install.

Cable company Comcast, when they came they said they would support my config, they support only windows.
i configured myself. and it is working fine for me.
--------

if u setup your networking as DHCP it would ask u for the password.
if u need help  to configuire DHCP. just let me know  what u did and wher u are having problem(which step).

The last order of Ultra 5 was ended on 02/2002.   So, it is very new one.   With newer hardware and with newer Operating System, you may be able to have Cable connection.   But mine is old one, so I would have difficulty.   By the way, if you don't mind, how much it cost?   Thank you about Verizon - T1.   I will check it up.

what is your proc speed, mine is around 200Mhz. so it does not matter how old is your system is, may be it will not give u proper performence but it will work.

i never tried to get T1 lines, i do not know how much they cost but it should be not much comapre to cable modem.
