Outlok time out
I have a user connected to the campus mail server using IMAP, with outlook 2002. After having outlook open for a while the connection dies, and the user is unable to send or receive. If I close outlook and open it back again everything works fine.
When outlook is working fine, if you click file, at the bottom above exit it has " Connect to imap.xxxx.com ", this is grayed out.
When outlook is in this hung state, the same " Connect to imap.xxxx.com ", is not grayed out. When you click on this it does nothing.
I have changed the server timout value to 5 min, but it still has no affect.

generally if there is a server problem this can occur.
I used to get this very very rarely but let us see if repairing outlook would solve the issue though I think there could be other solutions than this

I just created a new profile for him on his XP computer a month ago,
I was also thinking that there could be a problem
with the server just not sure what it could be
since no one else is having the same problem.
I use imap myself running outlook2000 every couple of days I get a error
but I click ok and everything is fine. I never have to shutdown outlook
and restart it.
