What is the network like?  Is it a large network?  If so, are all the machines on the same subnet?  What happens if you just go to \\10.0.0.243\ ?  Can you ping that IP address?

it's a small network, all the machines are on the same subnet. i will have to check on the ping and on the \\10.0.0.243\. The machine can ftp to that number but it can't see the share. ??
