cannot burn CD-ROM with Nero Express
Hi nice folks,
I downloaded one big iso file with size of 589 MB. Now I try to use Nero Express to burn this file on a blank CD. I tried to burn twice. The Nero Express said the burning completed successfully. But when I put these burned CD files in, the CDs could not be recognized. I chose the burn the CD image option in Nero Express. Can anybody tell me what can I do now? Many thanks.

Did you choose the following
Data --> Data Disc
or
Disc image or Saved Project?
The second option is the one you should have taken and not the first.

I did the Disc image or Saved Project.

To be honest, this is supposed to be the install disc for some game.
That should have created a disc for you.
If you view the completed disc for you in Windows Explorer what files can you see on the CDROM?

The CD-ROM driver cannot open the disc because it cannot recognize the disc.
So either the ISO image you downloaded was corrupt or Nero mucked up the burning.
You can check the ISO image using a util like IsoBuster from http://www.smart-projects.net/
If IsoBuster can read the files in the image, you know Nero or yourself mucked up the burn. If it can't you know you have a corrupt ISO file.

Yeah, that is exactly what I did. I downloaded the ISOBuster and installed it. The ISOBuster can read the ISO file correctly. I then extracted out those files contained in the ISO file, and use Nero Express to burn those extracted files into a data disc. I don't know if this disc is the same as the original ISO disc.
Well, no.
You use Nero Express to burn the ISO file you downloaded to a Cd disk using the Disc image or Saved Project options. That should create the correct disk for you.
Extracting the files from the ISO file and burning them to disk is not the correct way to do it.
Use IsoBuster to check the CDs you have made and see if they can correctly recognise the files there.

This happened to me with an image that I downloaded. Get CloneCD and mount the ISO on it's Virtual CloneDrive feature. If you see any files on the virtual drive then the ISO is fine. To burn it, then, make sure the ISO is still mounted, and have CloneCD make a copy (on-the-fly works fine) of the virtual drive to your physical writer.

One way to tell if something is burned onto a disk is simply by looking at the bottom of the disk. Is it all the same color or can you notice a difference (a darker middle section)? This is useful to tell if anything even happened to the cd itself or if Nero was just messed up. I've had Nero tell me that a burn was successful before only to find out that nothing was even burned onto the disk.
Also just take the file that you downloaded and without changing it or doing anything to it, burn it onto the cd. If the file is what it says it is then it should work unless the site that you got the ISO from specifically says to do anything else to it.
Hope I helped at least a little bit.

this sounds more like a corrupted disk image (*.iso file) problem. did you try to download the disk image a second time and try it with Nero?
hi there,
if you are running XP then use ...
ISO Recorder Power Toy is a UI component that allows to use CD-Recording capabilities of Windows XPr to record ISO images and copy CD to CD - a piece of functionality missing in Windows XPro The ISO Recorder itself does not record CDs but instead uses existing OS features. Some of the interfaces it uses are not fully documented by Microsoft and as such are subject to change in the future. This software works on Windows XP only . It was tested with retail build of Windows XP (Home and Professional)

Just to double check, ...when you run Nero Burning Rom, the "New Compilation" box will be open..Make sure you close that and then goto File - open - select where the iso is located and select in type window "iso".
Yes, I had the same problem. Copying from a virtual drive to a physical writer worked for me, but burning the ISO from Nero or any other burning program did not work.
Where (on the Web) did you download the iso from?
