Whats does 'Robotic library destination element full error' actually mean?

After the library initialises, I receive this error. It states:

The robotic library has reported a destination element full error condition. This is typically caused by trying to mount media into a drive that already contains media. The drive state has been set to offline.

However, I have not added any additional tapes to the drives at all. I am I reading this correctly?

It probably means there is a tape in the drive, try taking the library offline and with the buttons on the front issue whatever command to move tape from drive to an empty slot. Also run an inventory and it should tell you where all the tapes are. Assuming it is a tape stuck in the drive and it's a DLT library search your manufacturers website for "dropped leader" and you'll find the proceedure for disassembling the drive to get the tape out.

It would help us if you said what make/model of library it is.

Apologies... the device is a Hp Surestore 1 Lto Drive 20 Slot Library (c9520Cb).

I'll try your instructions as above and elt you know.

Thanks,

Nick.
