DHCP Issues
I am trying to test a new VPN connection and DHCP is giving me some problems. I need one machine that resides on the external side of our ISA server. This machine is running XP. In order for me to use the alternate IP configuration option I must be obtaining my address automatically via DHCP. The problem is that there is no DHCP server on that segment and nothing I can use at the moment. The ISA server is running DHCP for the internal network. Is there any way to add a scope for the external segment without causing problems with the internal one? Is there anyway to use the alternat configuration option without using DHCP?
why cant you just set it statically?? use an address in the same scope as the one you are trying to get from DHCP. Otherwise you will need to set up another server as a DHCP relay agent.

You can't set a static address. Try it and see. If you set a static address the alternative configuration tab dissapears.
