Flash Mx Bitmaps

Flash smoothes bitmaps even if "allow smoothing" is disabled (1). Disablilng "allow smoothing" stops smoothing inside the working area but not in the .swf export. How do I fix it? Does this happen to anyone else?

I know its possible to do with text to a certain degree, maybe this can help you.

Here is an excerpt from the following link: http://www.chinwag.com/flasher/archive/archive-jul-2000/msg03531.shtml

"Try creating an editable text field. Make sure that the glyph settings are set to "Do not include font outlines". This will cause flash to use the font renderer for the platform. (If your platform is performing anti-aliasing your fonts may still be anti-aliased.) Disable editing, border, and selection if so desired"

why dont you do Trace bitmap this way you will reduce the size + you will have the option to choose the quality .
A new generation of Bitmap fonts (fonts that are intended NOT to be anti-aliased (smoothing)) have been developed for web viewing. Fonts from places like Atomic Media and Mini Fonts. Like the popular MINI 7 series. You know. So, it infuriates me that I can not get these fonts to predictably NOT anti-alias in Flash. It just LOVES to anti-alias my fonts which are not intended to anti-alias!

Can I do this w/o breaking down the type? It's nice to keep editable in Flash. Thanks!

There is a button in property inspector ' Alias Text ' right under the ' Bold ' option. You toggle that on/off.

As for the trace bitmap - that's kinda stupid because you will lose quality and complex bitmaps will not be smaller, infact larger since flash now has all these complex mathematical equations to perform before rendering - the end result is slower. Bitmaps display the fastest.
Is whah? I'm digging for this lovely button property inspector in Flash 5 and Flash MX. Can't find it. I've got Flash MX Professional in a box, ready to install later this week... will I find it there? Hoping to find a solution that does not involve embedding fonts, as I do not have the proper licensing. Thanks for your further instruction...
