Thanks a lot!! However, when trying your code it says
"An unexpected system error was detected. (Error code is 4294934528)" This type of error will most likely occur when the server running ColdFusion is low on memory and/or system resources.
If you continue to experience this error in a reproducible fashion you should contact Allaire technical support. The error occurred while processing an element with a general identifier of (CFSCRIPT)".

There should be a simplier way to get a CF query into an excel spreadsheet. Thanks a lot. Roberto,

My previous question here on EE.
how to export from SQL query to excel - no 'COM' - objects please.
https://www.experts-exchange.com/Web/WebDevSoftware/ColdFusion/Q_20701038.html

if you plan to use cfobject. theres a bug. im not sure if this has been fix. have no plans of
creating excel using cfobject.
cfobject with excel.application error - java.lang.NoSuchMethodException.

There's also a script from allaire.
cf_all_excel.cfm
code is encrypted but its easy to use.

Based on CF_Query2Excel, All_excel creates an Excel Spreadsheet from an SQL query <cfquery>.
This tag only requires the name of a query as a parameter passed to the tag.
It is possible to display or hiding the column headers and rename Column headers as well.
Example 1
===========
<cfquery name="GetEmployees" datasource="AnyDataSource">
     SELECT nm_first, nm_last, dob from EMPLOYEES
</cfquery>

<cf_All_excel
   Query = "GetEmployees"
   Headers= "First Name,Last Name,Date of Birth">
[/quote]

you can find this tag in macromedia.com.
You can search all free tags there. macromedia>downloads>exchange>cfc's
