Mac 0S 9.2.2 / volume recover
I think I already know the anwser. But hopefully someone out there has leads. A colleague was having trouble with her G4/400 and instead of doing a system re-install she did a clean install. Now not having backed up, I think prior info is toast.
But is there any way, or any software that can be used to recover prior files/directories that was lost due to a clean system install?

Nope. Once the data has been written over, it's gone. It's like an audio tape. Once you record over what was there, it's gone.
Hard drives can be recovered.

Just one company that came to mind...
However... a clean install installs a new system folder, unless your colleague reformatted the drive which sounds like what happened.
