Last Modified: 2008-02-01

I have a database server which I am trying to set up to send me sql mail when a backup fails.  I can access this server through terminal services.  When I go to enterprise manager and go under my database and click test under agent and click on a job.  Then I click test for it to send a test email and it says : error 22022or The Sqlserveragent mail session is not running, check the mail profile and or sql server agent serverice startup account in the sqlserveragetn properties dialog.  I went to the properties of sql server agent and the mail profile has the name of 'sqlalert'.  There is an account in exchange created called sqlalert.  Any idea what is wrong.

The mail profile also needs to be configured for the "Windows Login Acount" used on the SQL server computer.
Start, Settings Control Panel, Mail

Sql agent is running.  Does sqlalert account need to be able to login to the windows 2000 box where the database is on.  The mail session under properties for agent says sqlalert.  Any ideas?

Make sure you have a mail client on your sql server system.
