Windows 2000 Roaming profiles

I have one user who cannot log on because her Roaming Profile cannot read some Temporary Internet File.  The loading of the profile then fails and Windows loads the temporary profile.

I have tried excluding temp inet files, and desktop folders, and making sure that the user has full control of the profile folder...

and still get nothing

this seems very odd... last time this happened I set the ownership of the folder and all subfolders to the Admins group, but that didnt seem to help...

any thoughts?

have you tried deleting those rotten files from the server?

ASKER

I attempted it, however I got a message that said they were system files and deleting them may cause other programs not to function... with TIFs I would find that very hard to belive, but thought i would post the question to be sure...
temp files are just that... temp
There are subfolders that are created by IE that will give you this message.  I delete them all the time and I have no problem.
If you are concerned about it you can open each folder and select all... delete.  leaving the folders there

Naw... C... And I rarely miss my Trash... I got pretty good with my .22 8-)
I cleared the TIFs from the profile and she was able to login, however when logging off

there was a problem copying a file from C:\docs & settings\user to \\server\profiles$\user the file is in use by another process....

What is the file name?  does it give a full path?  Is it a TIF or another Temp file?
She may have a spyware issue on this system
You might have her login, then once logged in, remove ALL the files, and then recopy the info to the profile dir.
If it's not an adware/spyware issue.
I have scanned the system for spy/adware and will see if the problems persist
Removing the file that the profile cannot copy seems to work for the duration of the day.  First it was TIFs, then Cookies, and now shortcuts stored in \application data\office\recent within the profile...

Any thoughts on how to correct this for longer than one day at a time?
when using roaming profiles, all of those swell Temp, tif, cookie files need to be downloaded to the local machine at each log on.  This could make for a long wait for log ons.  I recommend setting IE to delete all tif and cookies on exit.  Or you can set the size of the tif folder very low.
Thanks for the score and points.
