Hi There:

Thanks so much for the followups.  I tried the DRU510A firmware update, but, the program indicated there were no devices to update.

Hi Everyone:

I want to thank everyone for the links to driver support for the DVD burner.  The problem with the burner is now fixed.  Interestingly, I fixed this problem by installing the DVD burner into a machine with XP on it.  The unit would never work within Windows ME.  Perhaps XP has better driver support for DVD burners as compared to ME.

      Thanks again.

I just picked up a DW-U18A drive, which is very nice - worked as soon as I plugged it in, using XP.  That confirms that XP is less troublesome with respect to drivers.

Here is a link to convert the DW-U14A to a DRU-510A.  It worked fine for me.  I then was able to further upgrade the firmware to 1.1A.

HTH,
Rob

I just tested the link from the previous post as it cut off the [1.0c].zip from the hyperlink causing it to fail.  Copy the entire link below without quotes and paste it in the address box in firefox, then hit enter and the download window will open to save the file.

Hi Everyone:

Thanks so much for the followups.  I resolved this problem indirectly by simply placing the unit into a machine with XP as opposed to ME.  Apparently, the native drivers loaded by ME simply were not advanced enough for the unit.  But, when I put it into an XP machine, it worked great.

As always, I sincerely appreciate the followups.
