Posted on 2004-03-20
I am still a bit of a novice when it comes to networking, BUT; I have decided to jump right in with both feet and try cross-platform networking as my learning model. I have some knolwedge when it comes to computing, and built my own PC. Networking is still a foreign subject so go easy with the abbreviations.
Could someone explain the steps nesissary in setting up my P4 2.8Ghz, A-BIT IC7-MAX3 MB, 1Ghz Twinx DDR, 160Mb (SATA) HHD, XP Home edition PC to network with an eMac Power PC G4, 256Mb, running OS X v 10.1.5?
I have a 4 meter Belkin crossover cable cat5e.
1. To share the use of a ADSL Alcatel Speed Touch Modem at 576.0 Kbps internet (USB), and a HP psc 950 (printer).
2. Use the PC as a server to run its programs ie. Autocad, Photoshop, games ect. on the Mac.
3. Keep my sanity.
Time for compleation:
What software/ hardware, if any, do I need?
(Sorry about the lack of points for this one, but... thank you.)
