I have a HP 2100 being shared on a Novel Network. There are only three users using this printer and it works fine for two of them. The third user tried printing a large .tif that was placed into word. It woul dnot print at all. After that he could not print at all on the Hp 2100 or the HP Laserjet 4 Plus also on the network. He was getting:

PCL XL error
Subsystem: KERNAL
Error: illegalTag
Operator: 0x1b
Position 13244

I reverted back to the HP LaserJet 2100 Series PCL 5e driver. All seems to work fine until I go to print a test page, email or a .doc over 1 page long. The printer only spits out he first 8 lines of the doc and 6 lines of the email and the test page only has half of the windows logo on it. Printing very short things like "this is a test" works fine. Now the printer won't print on the 4 plus either. Any help would be great!

Running:
Win 98
Novel Network
The printer is going though a HP Jetdirect 170x

Thanks for the word of help Alex but being a tech a cold boot is one of the first things I did. Sorry I did not mention that I assumed that was a given. Turn out the users space on the network drive was full and as soon as I deleted a bunch of junk (temp files and useless programs) he had in it everything worked fine. Don't ask me why this worked but the person forgot to mention to me that he also received a disk full error when the original problem occurred.
