I try to connect to yahoo game just yesterday, but then i found out ie won't start the sun java plug-in itself. I'm so sure that i have that install, coz i just update it. My computer has nth wrong to run java appz, coz i also write java program by JBuilder, i can view applet w/ Netscape 7.1, but not IE6. I installed the plug-in probably, and i can see the option of Sun Java Plug-in in the internet Option (Under Tools, Internet Option, Advanced. The Sun Java is checked) I also make sure the the java security set to low safty. I really have no idea why the IE won't start the java plug-in. And I reinstall that just now, but it still won't start. However, i have no problem w/ Netscape 7.1. Does anyone have any suggestion on this?
The second q is, I'm use Norton Internet Security, and the personal firewall is on. Even tho i added a rule to open port 11999 (the port to play yahoo games) and allow computers yog1.games.scd.yahoo.com (66.218.68.192) to yog70.games.scd.yahoo.com (66.218.70.15) to connect to my computer thr tcp/ip, but i still can't connect to the game server. But when i disable the firewall, i could play the games. So i'm sure it's the firewall problem. Did i do anything wrong? Or did i miss something important? I gave permission to the netscape 7.1, java.exe, and javaw.exe, so it could access the port 11999, and also the java plug in. But still, is there anything i forgot?

Thank you for everyone's suggestions.

Hello,

another option (almost the same) might be to go in the same menu: Extra>>Internet Options>>Customized level>>Java applets in script and select here enable (I might be wrong with the translation in the last part since Im now  working with a Dutch IE.

Hey  everyone,
for every solution u guys post up here, i tried them all, but still, non of them works on my computer. I have no idea why the java plug-in just won't start in IE... I tried to uninstall the sun java plug-in, then reinstall, but still. I tried to change the java security, but it still won't work. I already enable the java plug-in. but now, neither the MS JVM nor the Sun Java plug-in will work in IE.... so i choose to use netscape, if i got some java applet, to run.... but still, ur comments & suggestions are still welceom ^^ Thank y'all, really helped.

Hi ,

Sorry to hear we could not help you.
You might ask for refund for this question: https://www.experts-exchange.com/Community_Support/

Or close this question.

Just out of curiousity: Does it also not work when the security of IE set to the lowest?

since you say you are programming in Java using Jbuilder, your problem could be due to Sun java plugin being set as default in IE ....

try the method listed at the link
