Outlook for a Lan

Can outlook 2000 be setup on a local lan? Were not a windows server house. Were netware 4.2  We just want our users in house to communicate with each other over the lan. Dont have groupwise either. Our boss is to stingy to upgrade to anything new. His theory if it works then it works fine.

Outlook 2000 is simply a mail client. It can talk to any Exchange,IMAP, or POP3 server. So if you just wanted to set up some kind on internal only email system, you only need a client and a server. For the client, you can use free clients such as Pegasus mail and for a server you can use the free version of MailEnable.

However, if you mean you want to setup Outlook 2000 to utilize some of the functions like group scheduling, you would need an Exchange Server for that.
