Compression on HP Dat drive

I need to disable hardware compression on my hp dat drive.Is there an easy way to do this?Any help much appreciated.

The hardware compression is enabled and disabled via the backup software.

using software compression will override the hardware compression.  There are no longer jumpers etc on HP DAT drives to turn off hardware compression, so the software will need to do the job for you.

DAT tapes are frustrating - I have never managed to get even close to the native capacities, let alone the compressed capacities.

Don't worry about it.
