Exchange 5.5 ASP 0115 error

I have a customer running Exchange 5.5.

They called and said when they try to access Outlook Web, they get the following message.

error 'ASP 0115'
Unexpected error

/exchange/USA/logon.asp

A trappable error occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running.

I haven't been out there yet, but didn't know if anyone could give me a heads up on what the problem migh be.

thanks,

Patrick

Thanks, i found another article that said to do the SP4 update to fix it, but this i'll try first.

Patrick
Be careful, SP4 breaks your ability to use the change password funtion with OWA 5.5 and IIS 5

I'm using Exchange 5.5 on NT4.0 Server.

I'd rather not do the SP4 update and wait until they upgrade to SBS 2003 with Exchange later this year.

The first suggestion didn't work, so my only alternative other than waiting would be to install SP4.

Patrick
Sorry, thought you meant SP4 for Windows 2000.... by all means, install SP4 for Exchange!! Also go to Technet Security Bulletins, and download the latest post SP4 fix for OWA that came out last October.

Try this
support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=818709

I had tried everything to fix it and nothing worked until I appled this hotfix.

Thanks Jenny !

Been looking for a solution for this for quite some time now - your link did the job.

Thomas
To fix my Exchange 5.5 server w/OWA running on it I also used:

support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?kbid=818709

that jenny30534 suggested and it worked! No more rebooting or stopping and starting a "hung" www service! I want to add some info to this in that this server already had SP4 for a few years and OWA worked flawlessly up until a few months ago when I installed Trend Micro's ScanMail for Exchange v3.52. I am not saying that this was definitely the cause, just letting you all know that right after or soon after it was installed, problems began with OWA hangs with:

error 'ASP 0115'
Unexpected error

/exchange/USA/root.asp

A trappable error occurred in an external object. The script cannot continue running.

Thanks for sharing, all!

Chuck
Nope, only Outlook 2003 can cause the 4th entry....
I've not seen ScanMail cause this either, but then, you never know what you'll get when installing software.....

Well done - I've been looking for a solution for this for weeks - of course it is Outlook 2003 - that's what's changed for one or two users.

We should warn people generally

OUTLOOK 2003 BREAKS OWA ON EXCHANGE 5.5

At least microsoft noticed
ok, i have the same problem. put a user on outlook 2003 yesterday and now get the same error from OWA.
Running Exchange 5 on NT4.

How to solve this problem??
