Cannot install msxml4 due to installer inability to open key

I tried to install msxml4 after trying to register it.
The installer came back with the message "cannot open HKEY_LocalMachine\Software\Class\Tpyelib\..........\4.0  ".
I used Regedit to try to change the permission but the change was not allow even though I am the owner of the machine and have adminstrator status. I also try to delete it but it came back with the message that it can't be opened.
I have tried out a few Registry fix program to no avail.
Could you please suggest any solutions? Thanks.

Hi Phil_Newman,

Try Regedt32 and change the security on that key.

Advise.

yes, my accounts in the local Admin group
I cannot open the key to view the permissions. By right clicking the key, I can open the change permission dialog but it has no permission written on it.
What is the GUID of that key?

ie.

{some long hex number}

You can change permissions - but I want to give you what should be there based on my registry.
The GUID is:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Classes\TypeLib\{F5078F18-C551-11D3-89B9-0000F81FE221}
It has 2.6 and 3.0 under it which is fine as well the the 4.0 key
Phil_Newman,

So, you're saying 2.6 and 3.0 keys are intact?  If so, you need to change permissons on the 4.0 key.  In the Advanced section of the Permissions simply check the Inherit box.  The permissions are supposed to be inherited from HKEY_LOCAL MACHINE\Software\Classes.

Thanks Netman66,
The problems has been solved!
Your comments earlier about being in right user group .... I had assumed that the other admin group had not installed msmxl4 when in fact they had done so!!!
Thanks again for your help and patience.
