I installed windows 2000 server on a Dell PowerEdge 4300 and now I am trying to install the Symantec Anti-virus for SMTP Gateway version 3.1 on this server. The gateway software tells me that the  SMTP port  (025) is already in use. What in w2k is using this smtp port & how do I stop it from using this port. This server is a workgroup server which will only be running the symantec gateway software. This is my first time installing a windows 2000 server so I am not very knowledgeable about it.

download ActivePorts from here http://www.ntutility.com/freeware.html .  It will tell you what is using that port.  If some program is already using this port, you will definately have problems setting up and smtp gateway of any sort.
