Guys, I am using ASP for web reporting (CR 9) on Win 2000 Professional as a Web Server. The problem is my RAS service doesn't seem to be working right. When I start the RAS service (through Services, Administrative tools), it starts for a 1-2 seconds and stops automatically. As a result, when I run my ASP code and open a client doc it gives me the following error:

Error Type:
clientdoc.dll (0x80041015)
Failed to connect to server "JSW". Error returned from Windows Sockets API : 0.
/RASSamples/En/ASP/Migration/adorecordset/ADORecordset.asp, line 79

--- JSW is my server name and line 79 is:
session("oClientDoc").Open ("rassdk://" & path & reportname)

Can any one help me out here?.

Thanks

ras will automatically shut down when it detects a second ras service on the network that was intalled with the same keycdoe. coudl that be the case? do you get any entries in the application event log?

also there were a few bugs which might caus this behaviour, check this out

also try hardcoding the path, ie ("C:\folder\report.rpt")

also make sure that in the ras configuarion manager the report directory is set to c:\, then restart the ras service

I think you are right. We have more than one RAS server installed in our network, which I was not aware of. Any way thanks for your help. I am giving you the points.
