2 Part Question: How To Add Links to A Picture Gallery and 2. How to Add Links to Play .mpg files

I have a page that i'm trying to create for a friends' band. They want this site to be able to have a banner (which i don't know how to do as well) so this makes it a three part question. The way they want to show the photo's of the band is to have it with hyperlinks say in a frame and have a link that says pics of the band then show a gallery, i see how to create a gallery with front page, but how do i get a hyper to open up a new page with that picture gallery. I want to do the same thing for the .mpg files have a link and show the different video files, but there won't be many of those so it would probably be just each .mpg file with a link of it's own, but the caveat is that i want to be able to explain each song they are viewing with a text or somehting like that. I also want to use a wood grain background for the letters  and outlined with different colors. I know i'm going past my two part limit, but i will offer alot of points. Thanks for all you're help.

What imaging programs do you know?  I would suggest using an imaging program - like Adobe PhotoShop or Paintshop Pro

>but how do i get a hyper to open up a new page with that picture gallery
Right click on the hyperlink & choose properties. Now in the window that opens up, choose target frame.  Now this is where you can choose New Window.

>I want to do the same thing for the .mpg files have a link and show the different video files, but there won't be many of those so it would probably be just each .mpg file with a link of it's own, but the caveat is that i want to be able to explain each song they are viewing with a text or somehting like that.
I use the following code in a web page to embed the video:
<object id="MediaPlayer" width=320 height=286
classid="CLSID:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95"
standby="Loading Microsoft® Windows® Media Player components..."
type="application/x-oleobject"
codebase="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,4,7,1112">
<PARAM NAME="filename" VALUE="interview_fox_video.asx">
<PARAM NAME="autoStart" VALUE="true"> <PARAM NAME="showControls" VALUE="true">
<param name="ShowStatusBar" value="true"> <PARAM NAME="Autorewind" VALUE="true">
<PARAM NAME="ShowDisplay" VALUE="false">
  <EMBED SRC="interview_fox_video.asx" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=286 type="application/x-mplayer2" name=MediaPlayer autostart=1 showcontrols=0 showstatusbar=1 autorewind=1 showdisplay=0>
</EMBED></OBJECT>
Change the source (interview_fox_video.asx) in both places to the path of your file.  Now you can add your explanation

>I also want to use a wood grain background for the letters
Check out: http://www.grsites.com/textures/wood001.shtml - you might have to open the images up in an imaging editor to add the outlines.

I actually want the gallery to be on a new page that opens up. I do have photoshop so i guess i can create the banner there. Would i also use photoshop to edit the outlines of the letter ? and this player can it play multiple files ? i'll try it as you have it here, but i'm really confused on the use of frontpage.

>I do have photoshop so i guess i can create the banner there
yes - that would be the best & easiest way.  FP is an editor for text (HTML, ASP, PHP, etc) not for graphics

>Would i also use photoshop to edit the outlines of the letter
Yes.  It almost sounds like you want to create a font as well?

>and this player can it play multiple files ?
The code I gave you - you would place it on one web page.  If you want another player - it would be best to create a new web page.  That way you can write your new explanantion about the new video that is playing.

Well to make a font, you are actually asking for a lot.  One, not everyone will have that font , so if you use it for text, people cannot see it.  You would then have to embed the font into your website so the font can be downloaded.

To view programs on making a font:  http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&q=font+maker

Corey. i tried to use this code:

&lt;object id="MediaPlayer" width=320 height=286<BR>
classid="CLSID:22D6F312-B0F6-11D0-94AB-0080C74C7E95"<BR>
standby="Loading Microsoft&reg; Windows&reg; Media Player components..."<BR>
type="application/x-oleobject"<BR>
codebase="<A
href="http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,4,7,1112">http://activex.microsoft.com/activex/controls/mplayer/en/nsmp2inf.cab#Version=6,4,7,1112</A>"&gt;<BR>
&lt;PARAM NAME="filename" VALUE="interview_fox_video.asx"&gt;<BR>
&lt;PARAM NAME="autoStart" VALUE="true"&gt; &lt;PARAM NAME="showControls" VALUE="true"&gt;<BR>
&lt;param name="ShowStatusBar" value="true"&gt; &lt;PARAM NAME="Autorewind" VALUE="true"&gt;<BR>
&lt;PARAM NAME="ShowDisplay" VALUE="false"&gt; <BR>
&nbsp; &lt;EMBED SRC="interview_fox_video.asx" WIDTH=320 HEIGHT=286 type="application/x-mplayer2" name=MediaPlayer autostart=1 showcontrols=0 showstatusbar=1 autorewind=1 showdisplay=0&gt;<BR>
&lt;/EMBED&gt;&lt;/OBJECT&gt;<BR>

but all it does is show the code on the page. don't know why it added the &lt in front of everything i think that is probably my problem....

Make sure you copy the code I gave you to notepad to strip out the code. And then copy it into FP HTML.  Look at the code I have & the code that you have.

To embed the font:  http://www.microsoft.com/typography/web/embedding/weft3/default.htm to convert the font to the type of file you need.  And then check out:  http://www.ssi-developer.net/design/embed-font.shtml

Glad that I could help.  As far as knowing anything about dreamweaver, some.  I would like to say I know more about HTML.  LOL
