I think the best point to start , even if you haven't got any programming experience , is the TEACH YOURSELF C++ IN 21 DAYS , by Sams found here:

You don't need to know C , to start learning C++.
I , myself , started with this one , and now , I'm making money by developing applications in C++ Builder ;)

Turbo C++ for Dos is good to start. later on, when you get used to just some syntaxes and .... , you can start your journey to understand the Visual Programming. Search on the net and Manuals are starting points.
