Hi

I'd like some advice how to put a PHPBB2.07 into a frame set up.

I want a left column frame and a top frame.

I haven't tried setting up yet and haven't done one before so please give me the absolute 101 class.

I also want to use a skin from phpbbhacks.com I tried just swapping the template file but this didn't get very far.

My host gives me a built in set up so i can mess about with a preinstalled one to get the hang of things.

The frameset should be fairly easy.

Without going into too much detail for now but.. all you need to do is read a frames primer or tutorial found on google or yahoo or whatever. You make your 2 frames, call left ads and right (phpbb).  left's page would be your advertisments or whatever and the source of the right frame would of course be the phpbb. Theoretically if you put the source as the phpbb for hte right, it should be fine without opening new windows everytime you click on a link, if you do have problems you will need to open the skin documents and add the target="" html tags so it stays witin that frame when you click stuff.

However...
My suggestion would to have 2 horizontal frames instead of two vertical ones. The top horizontial frame can be fairly small but still have your text advertisments visiable and even when they scroll down the phpbb in the lower frame your advertising is still there in the top frame.

Hi viper,

I ended getting someone else to install the board. I found someone on  a Lance site who was happy to do it pretty cheap.

It only took him a couple of hours so i guess it must have been relatively easy after all! Just didn't have time to sit down with it.

Anyway, would you have any objections if i asked for this q to be deleted? I don't mind if you do - let me know.

Thanks

macuser
