Windows XP Drivers (and a breakout cable) for a matrox RT2500

i have aquired a matrox rt2500 with dual firewire in and a connection for a breakout cable.  however being thet fortunate person i am i do not have, nor can i find the drivers to use this card or the cable to use standard video in (i have no DV equipment so the firewire is useless to me).

i've checked everywhere under the sun for these drivers (and cable).  i got the card second hand (it was given to me) and do not have the disk or serial number (sticker was pealed off) to register with matrox.  i've emailed several online businesses and the only one that had them, or could get them, was in iran and would not ship to me because i am an american.

for the love of god if anyone knows where i can get these things please let me know.  free download or package deal, it doesn't matter. i just want to be able to use my card.

bon voyage!

This looks like it does it all but if you have problems post here and I'll look some more.

you have to register your serial number with matrox to get the drivers from them and tom's just has a review on the card with no links to drivers or or just the breakout cable.

thanks anyway

I wonder if the company would give you the drivers since you took possession of the video card in a normal third party transfer.  It's not like someone is out there manufacturing bootleg matrox video cards and then using matrox drivers to run them.  (at least I assume not).  I think if you called the company and told them you own the card legally, then they might provide you an install disk or a download link, possibly at a fee.  Just a guess.

If that doesn't work, you might try searching for matrox rt2500 forums and posting there.  You might find someone with identical equipment and the drivers you are looking for who could steer you in the right direction or maybe legally backup a copy of his drivers to your storage site for safekeeping.  Everybody else (nvidida, ati, etc) has there drivers out there for anybody.  I don't know why matrox is so protective.

i'm thinking it's due to the cost of the cards.  they still go for over $700 on pricewatch and such.  i'll attempt to contact matrox again but i have already done this once and never received a response.

still no response from matrox.  by now this question has likely fallen to the wayside therefore i will put in  a request to have it deleted unless someone knows a 3rd party that may carry these drivers.

Thanks for the points but since my ideas didn't work I haven't any objection to your getting a refund through support in the upper right hand corner of the page.  Good Luck.  Tim.
