Hi everyone,

I was wondering what would be the recommended Gateway/Proxy server setup for a small-medium sized business?

What hardware(pc,modem, etc) & software would you recommend for a wireless setup?

Any links to prices would also be appreciated,
Thanks
Terry

Are free to download for personal use and trial.
These are easy to install, easy to manage (via web browser) and will run on anything from a p100 with 64Mb of ram upward.
I know of 2 clarkconnect installs who are very happy indeed with the product, and we use it at work.
It supports ethernet, modem, wireless, ADSL, and ISDN.
It provides firewall, DMZ, Intrusion detection, Proxy service, and much more.

Clarkconnect:
At work we run it on a pIII 700 with 128Mb ram, and a 4Gb Hard disk, connected through ethernet to an ADSL modem/router.
It functions well, and we use the webserver to host our intranet portal, with internal phone numbers, links to useful sites, links to general information documents in PDF (copier manuals, mainly)  on our service server, etc.
We also get reports on attack attempts, web sites visited from the network, etc. plus automatically updated security packages.
It will also function as a windows file server, an email server, vpn,  etc.

As you may have guessed, I am a fan of this setup, based on redhat9 Linux distribution a brilliant use for an old PC, just insert the CD, the install wipes the hard disk and installs itself, asks a few questions, and you`re in business!

There are also options for email virus scanning, DHCP server, DNS caching, and other functions.
There are 2 web admin programs, 1 via https://yourCCipaddress:81, and the more indepth webmin one at https://yourCCipaddress:10000

For a wireless setup, you will need a wireless Access point or a wireless card with AP functionality, and the internet  connection will need a modem or router, but that depends on the connection (ADSL, ISDN, Analog, etc)
